When I began working with Miles I was, and currently still am, a PhD candidate. When I began my graduate studies I was the stereotypical budding scientist: full of curiosity and ready to solve the worlds problems. My initially exuberant attitude toward my studies waned over time and eventually I fell into a spiral of self doubt which left me questioning every aspect of my life. Plagued by indecision I floundered in my work and, for a time, simply went through the daily motions with general disinterest: I was frozen in time. Worse than that I was becoming jaded and negative, which was certainly not characteristic of my former happy self.
“Miles…helped me to understand what I wanted to accomplish and how to do it.”
At that point I thought to seek some help. Miles and I began working together to discover what the change was and how I was to get back on track, after, of course, we figured out what that “track” was. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I went in with an open mind thinking I’d nothing to lose. What I got was a very positive, honest approach to exploring what it is I really want from life. I got in touch with my core values which now stand at the fore in my daily life. I answered tough questions about what was holding me back (fear of failure if your interested … among other things). For the first time I was clear about the person who I want to be, and, perhaps most importantly, understood that I have all the strength I need to become that person.
Sounds simple yes? Well I can tell you that I needed help to get to this point; such remarkable revelations are easily noted, but only through action is one able to effect real, lasting change. Miles not only helped me to understand what I wanted to accomplish and how to do it, but when he called he asked if I’d done what I needed to do. If I failed we worked through it, and discussions of my failures ended up being the most helpful.
I needed this and I can’t thank nor recommend Miles enough. If you feel adrift, goalless, or generally disconnected from yourself and your life ambitions, he is your man.
